Working with what stays
Give the garage its real visual weight
Two wide wood garage doors dominate the workshop example, while a single door has less influence on the ranch. Use both arrangements to judge whether you want the garage to stand out or feel integrated with the siding.
Keep the front door in the same comparison
If both entry and garage are natural wood, compare their actual tones rather than assuming they match. A quiet trim can connect them without introducing a third wood-colored paint on the walls.
Use a balanced palette
Treat the wood, stone and roof as part of the palette. A quieter siding color can bring them together; lighter trim gives the doors a more defined frame.
