01About this policy

This policy explains how Recoat handles information when you use our exterior paint-preview website and limited free beta. Contact Recoat at growyourventures@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.

This policy covers Recoat. Websites you visit through external links have their own policies.

02Information we collect

  • Photos and projects: images you upload, filenames and file details, preparation results, surface masks, previews, selected paints and saved looks. A house photo may contain an address, people or other identifying details. Avoid uploading unnecessary personal information.
  • Guest and beta records: a guest identifier, session information, upload allowance, early-access entry version and feedback-prompt status. You do not need to provide your name to explore.
  • Feedback and contact: answers, written notes, optional email address, publication permission and the project or page associated with your feedback.
  • Usage and technical information: navigation, paint choices, saves and downloads, preparation timing and errors, browser viewport, referral information, and technical request information such as IP addresses in service logs.

Cookies, local storage, session storage and IndexedDB help remember your guest session, house, choices and feedback status on this device.

Unfinished feedback answers are kept on your device so you can return to them. They are sent to Recoat only when you press Submit. Closing the check-in does not send your answers. Feedback previews do not save or submit answers.

03How we use it

We use information to prepare and display paint previews, restore your projects, manage the beta and upload limits, deliver support, understand which choices are useful, fix problems, and protect the service from misuse. Feedback is used privately by Recoat to improve the product. Usage measurement records product events and page views. We use PostHog for product actions, Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate visitor and page-view measurement, and Google Analytics for website traffic and acquisition reporting. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visits; our configuration sends approved page paths and campaign labels, without upload identifiers, share tokens, full query strings, photo contents or feedback text. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled. Automatic interaction capture and session recording are disabled. Our Vercel page-view configuration removes query strings and fragments and excludes private, administrative, and development routes; it does not send uploaded photos or feedback text.

04AI and service providers

Uploading a photo sends it for AI-assisted surface preparation. This can include an image-analysis step and a mask-generation step. Recoat uses OpenAI for this processing; using an example house reuses prepared assets instead of uploading your own photo.

We use service providers for website hosting, cloud processing and storage, guest identity and project records, analytics, and private feedback delivery. They receive information needed to provide those services. Authorized Recoat administrators may review feedback and project information to provide support, investigate problems and operate the beta.

Provider processing and retention are separate from Recoat’s project expiry. See OpenAI’s API data controls. Information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect users and the service.

05Your photos and feedback

Uploading a photo does not give Recoat permission to publish it as an example, testimonial or marketing image. We do not automatically make your uploads public.

Sharing is your choice. Creating a share link lets anyone who has it view that photo and try colors, without signing in. Their suggestions and reactions are visible on that link, separately from your saved looks. We use a link-scoped hash of the network address to limit repeat responses and copied color links; people on shared Wi-Fi may share a limit. You can stop links from the Share panel. Stopping a link cannot recall screenshots, downloads or message-preview copies that others already have. Uploaded house links also stop working when their source project expires.

Feedback from the current check-in is private. Submitting it does not give Recoat permission to quote it publicly or publish your photo.

If you explicitly granted permission to quote written feedback in an earlier version, that permission applies only to the approved written feedback, not your photo, email address or identity. Unsubmitted drafts from earlier versions never granted publication permission.

To withdraw permission for future use, email us with enough detail to identify the feedback. We can address copies we control, but cannot guarantee removal of copies others have already made.

06Storage and retention

Cloud-prepared uploaded houses and their shared links are available for 90 days from upload. Uploaded source images and prepared files have a 90-day cloud-storage lifecycle; expiry and physical deletion are not necessarily simultaneous. Guest, project and beta records can remain after photo files expire.

Copies of photos, preview data and saved choices may also be stored in your browser. Example and local-preview lifetimes can be shorter. Browser data can remain until expiry cleanup runs or you clear it; closing a tab does not erase it. Download any looks you want to keep.

Feedback, contact messages and beta records currently have no automatic deletion schedule. We retain them to operate and improve the beta and handle requests. Contact us to request deletion. Provider logs, backups and legally required records may have different retention periods.

07Your choices and requests

You can explore prepared examples without uploading a house, leave optional email fields blank, decline permission to publish feedback, and stop using the service at any time.

Use the studio’s device-saving controls or your browser settings to clear local site data. Clearing browser data does not delete cloud photos, feedback or provider records, and it can remove the guest identity used to reconnect to your projects.

For access, correction or deletion requests, contact growyourventures@gmail.com. Where applicable law provides privacy rights, you may exercise them through this address. Include a project identifier if available; do not send passwords or secret session tokens. We may need to verify a request and explain any legal or technical limits.

08Security and children

Recoat uses private cloud storage and session-linked access for uploaded projects. No online service can promise absolute security. Avoid uploading sensitive personal documents or photos you do not have permission to use.

Recoat is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.

09Updates and contact

We will update this page when our practices change and show the updated date. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention where required. Contact growyourventures@gmail.com with questions.
